Organizing All You Magazine Coupons

I received my July issue of All You Magazine in the mail this week. It came with tons of great coupons inside that I'm excited about this month (over $53 dollars worth).

Most of you know I maintain a clipless organizing system for my coupon inserts. I've had a few readers ask how I organize my All You Magazine coupons -- so I thought I'd show you!

{My July issue of All You}

  1. After it comes in the mail, I flip through it and browse all of the coupons one by one. When I find a coupon that is either an exceptionally high value coupon (that will make for a great deal), or something I will use, I write it in sharpie on the front cover. Then I take this magazine, leaving it whole, and file it in a folder within my coupon file box with a tab labeled "All You."
  2. I also print out a list of that issue's coupons from AllYou.com and stick it to my filing cabinet next to my computer. That way I can see all the coupons that are in the issue, and I will remember to clip the ones I need to take with me to the store.

{My coupon file box}

And that is how I maintain my clipless sytem while utilizing All You Magazine coupons!

*If you don't have a subscription to All You Magazine, you can purchase them on the newsstand at Walmart or subscribe to it HERE (much cheaper!)

Free iPod Touch from KeyBank!

I found out about this cool promotion from Key Bank through a friend (who knows I love free!) and I thought I'd share it with you all!

Right now you can get a FREE iPod Touch when you open a checking account at KeyBank and make a debit card purchase and two direct deposits!

See the flyer with more info HERE.

The checking account itself is pretty fancy -- not usually one they give out for free. You get free checks, free billpay, free debit card, free money orders, free online banking, etc! Let's just say my last bank's "free" checking account was not quite so free. :)

You have to sign up for this program through your work -- so if you're interested, contact Stewart below and mention the Key@Work program. He'll come to your office and bring everything you need to get moving toward your free iPod Touch! Offer expires July 2nd, 2010.

The $3 Huggies MFQ from Facebook just got reset! Print two more in preparation for next week's diaper deals!

Kotex Sample

There are Kotex sample packs available again (they usually run out pretty quickly)! I'm not a huge sample snatcher usually, but I do love Kotex (especially the new U by Kotex), and these sample packs often come with great coupons which make for more free things at Rite Aid!

Grab your sample pack HERE while they last.

Facebook Friday

I'm starting a new little ditty here on Slavetosave called Facebook Friday. Each Friday at noon I will post a mini giveaway just for Facebook fans! It could be an item, a coupon, a fun sample (like last week) or a shopping trip with yours truly!

Smith's has Smart Balance milk on sale for $2.99 this week, and we just got a great coupon in the Redplum insert for it!

Some readers are reporting that a catalina for a free carton of Smart Balance of milk prints after you purchase one! And also reporting that the catalina is rolling! Might be a great time to stock up on some milk. Did you know you can freeze milk?

Free OPI Nail Polish @ Ulta

Take THIS coupon into any Ulta store to get a free OPI nail polish! We have two stores in Utah - Southtowne and Riverdale. See the store locator HERE.

New National Catalina Offers

Ann over at Coupons, Deals & More has a new directory of national Catalina promos running now through July & August. That means these deals are valid at any store with a Catalina machine (in our case, Smith's and Kmart!).

New promos include Arrowhead Water, Capri Sun, Betty Crocker Fruit Snacks, Cool Whip and more.

Check out the full list HERE and keep them in mind as you plan your grocery trips in the next few weeks!

Today's Screamin' Coupons Deal - $29 Portrait Session ($150 value!)

In my opinion, today's Screamin' Coupon is a screamin' deal! Get a portrait session with Utah Valley's favorite photographer, Bryant Livingston, for only $29.

These are regularly $150! It would be a great chance to get some family photos done on the cheap.

Heads Up - Seven Peaks Coupon in Valpak

FYI - CoverGirl/Venus/Olay Rebate Reached It's Limit!

I got a letter in the mail yesterday regarding the $12 rebate from Glamour Magazine for purchasing Venus, Olay, Secret, Gillette or CoverGirl:

Dear Subscriber:

Thank you for contacting us concerning your subscription to GLAMOUR.

Our records indicate the maximum allowable refund was processed for this promotion.

We hope that excellent service from now on will compensate for any inconvenience you have experienced. Please let us know if we can be of further assistance.

I'm guessing that means this rebate is dead. Has anyone else received a similar letter?

Upromise College Savings

Upromise.com Scholarship Give Away

Have you heard of Upromise? It's a cashback site similar to Ebates or Shop At Home, except that instead of getting a percent cash back from purchases in a check that gets mailed to you, you get a percent cash back deposited into your Upromise savings account. The Upromise savings account can then be rolled into a 529 college savings plan for your children!

You can get Upromise savings in the form of ecoupons (loaded onto your store cards), gas purchases, online shopping, restaurants, travel, and even home or auto financing!

All you have to do is register your store savings cards and your debit or credit cards within your secure account. Then once a qualifying purchase is made, the savings are deposited automatically! You don't even have to think about checking Upromise before you buy -- they automatically credit you for the correct purchases. It's super simple.

You can have other family members' credit or grocery cards linked to your account as well. I actually have my mom's credit card linked to my account, and I get savings pop up about once a month from wedding gifts she buys! I love it.

I noticed the other day when I was browsing the savings in my Upromise account that I received some savings from the grocery shopping I did at Smith's during the double coupon promotion. So that means the items I bought that were dirt cheap already became just a little bit cheaper because of Upromise!

May Spending Totals

I was a little bit over budget this month. Okay, a lot over budget.

The Smith's double promo put me over the top at only halfway through the month, and after that I sort of went hog-wild since I knew I was already over budget! Bad, bad mentality!

I've been feeling like I need to raise my budget a little bit, maybe to $120 or so. The high cost of babyfood and the Bambina's vitamins are breaking the bank. And I think if I raised it a bit, I'd do better at not throwing in the towel once I get close to the brim!

Here's where my biggest chunks were spent this month:

  • I stocked my freezer with a ton of frozen chicken when I found a sale on marked down meat at Smith's.
  • I took part in a freezer meal swap using my favorite cookbook! It's didn't make for super cheap meals, but it made for convenient, tasty ones!
  • I shelled out $11 bucks for a multivitamin for the Bambina, which she hated and refused to eat. So I had to shell out another $13 bucks for a strictly-D vitamin, which she'll choke down more or less.
  • I also spent $43 at the Smith's double days. But it was so worth it because I stocked up on a lot of good condiments & things!

So this month I'm going to be aiming for $120. I think I can, I think I can!

Spent in May: $213.00
Saved in May: $428.19 (67%)

How did you all do this month?

Monday Drugstore Deals

I hit Rite Aid this morning to snag a few of the good deals this week. I went to two stores while running errands and ran into fellow slavetosave couponers at both stores! It was so fun to chat for a minute.

Transaction #1
$3.99 Listerine
$1.79 Gerber 2nd Foods x 3
$1.59 Gerber 1st Foods x 4
$1.79 Gerber Organic 1st Foods x 3
-$5/20 RAQ
-$0.75/3 Gerber MFQ (mailer)
-20% wellness+ discount
-$10 GC from THIS
= $1.90 + tax
(And get back $8 SCR.)

The first store I went to didn't have Blink Drops in stock, so I improvised with babyfood, in order to utilize the buy $15, get $5 SCR #46 Gerber rebate. I discovered after my wellness discount that I'm only at $12.40 instead of $15+, so I'll need to buy 2 more packs in other transactions in order to get the $5 SCR. I also discovered I had the wrong Listerine coupon, or it would have been $1 less out of pocket!

Also, my Rite Aid GC that I thought was $5 from the ad discrepancy a few weeks ago, actually rang up as $10! It paid big to get in on that deal.

Transaction #2:
$11.99 Huggies
$7.99 Blink Tears
$1.29 Gum
$1.29 Gum
-$5/20 RAQ
-$2.50 Huggies MFQ
-$4 Blink MFQ (peelie)
-$1 Huggies RAQ
-20% Wellness+ discount
= $6.62 + tax
(And get back $9.99)

The cashier wanted me to scan my Wellness Card at the beginning of the transaction, so I ended up having to throw in 2 packs of gum in order to use the $5/20 RAQ, but no biggie. I can always use more free gum. :) The weird thing is that my Wellness discount actually took 40% off the gum, instead of 20%. Has anyone else had this happen? Weird, but I'll take it!

So overall today I got paid $8.15 to shop at Rite Aid, including tax! Not a bad day.

Rite Aid +UP Rewards Program

Rite Aid is really rollin' out the big guns this year! First the Wellness+ Rewards Program, and now the +UP Rewards program! (It's pronounced plus up, just FYI.)

The Rite Aid +UP Rewards program is starting today, nationwide. You must be a Wellness+ card holder & must scan your card to receive +UP rewards.

What are +UP Rewards?
+UP rewards are issued as a coupon that prints at the bottom of you receipt when you purchase select items. (Similar to Extra Care Bucks at CVS.)

How do I spend my +UP Rewards?

+UP Rewards are basically a coupon valid on anything in the store! (Except alcohol, cigarettes, and stamps as noted.)
Use them on your next purchase at Rite Aid to buy whatever your heart desires. They can be used in addition to all other coupons.

Is there a limit on +UP Rewards?
Yes. +UP rewards are currently limited to one reward per person or Wellness+ card per week of each deal. So if Pampers have a $1 +UP Reward in a given week and you purchase two packs, you will only receive one $1 +UP Reward. (If you happen to receive two, it is a glitch in the system that will likely correct itself.)

Do +UP Rewards expire?
The expiration for +UP rewards is between two and three weeks.
