Free Big Mac @ McDonald's With Purchase Via Text

If you text SECRET33 to 733774 (McDonald's), you will get a text back saying "Show cashier & get a free big mac with purchase of a med fries and med drink."

{Thanks, Coupons, Deals & More!}

I'm in no way encouraging the consumption of McDonald's food (have I mentioned I'm on a cruise diet?) -- but if you are out and about and desperate, this could get you basically a combo meal for under $2.50. That's a good deal! :D

Huggies Diapers Price Increase

I heard on the news this morning that Kimberly Clark, the makers of Huggies, are introducing price increases to many of their products, which includes their diapers. This 7% price increase could begin as soon as June. The increase translates either to about a $1 dollar increase per jumbo pack or a decrease in package count to make up the 7%.

Read more on this HERE.

What does this mean?
In my opinion, this could level the playing field between Huggies and Pampers a little bit. Historically, we've seen deals that are better and more frequent for Huggies. With this price increase, I think we will start seeing more of an even number of deals between the two brands.

What can I do now?
If your household uses diapers or plans to use diapers in the near future, I would recommend that you start stocking up now. Here are some steps to help:
  • Start gathering & printing your coupons.
  • Sign up for Amazon Mom, where you can save 30% on diapers (with no sales tax and free shipping). Then watch for the 20% off or $10 off Amazon codes in your Parents Magazines. Start using Swagbucks to earn Amazon gift cards with very little effort.
  • Keep your eyes out for good diaper sales throughout the week (Fresh Market has a decent one on Pampers this week).
  • Watch the Rite Aid weekly deals & scenarios, which is where I often get my cheap diapers. (Huggies will be on sale starting this Sunday at Rite Aid, and we'll definitely be able to get them cheap, if not free.)

What else can I do?
Don't despair! Take a deep breath. Prices always increase over time, usually around the same rate of inflation (3%). Just do the best you can for your family, and be prepared to shop smart.

Smith's Grand Re-Opening Shopping Trip

So, I had a busy morning today. Two grand openings in one day! I discovered late last night while I was glancing at my ads that my nearby Smith's store was having a grand re-opening after completing some remodeling. I was too tired to gather my coupons & take part in some of their sweet sales this week (more on that later), but I decided that I would at least stop by to grab the freebies and a few needed items this morning.

I arrived 30 minutes after the store opened, but I still managed to secure a bag of freebies that was given to the first 300 customers. It included coupons for free orange juice, english muffins, eggs, little sizzlers and a greeting card (which I did not purchase today). There were also samples & coupons throughout the store with new products to try.

The store is beautiful! I'm so excited about the facelift. It seems there are two basic layouts of Smith's stores. My store had the old one and the other stores near me have the new one. It's confusing to try to remember which store layout you are in while you're shopping! So I'm excited that now all I have to keep track of is the new layout to find things.

$2.18 Milk
$1.09 Breadcrumbs
$0.74 Tomato Sauce
$4.00 Calamine Lotion
$0.00 Orange Juice
$0.00 English Muffins
$0.00 Dozen Eggs
$0.00 Little Sizzlers
-$0.50 cellfire e-coupon
= $7.51 + tax
(Saved $7.13 - 48%)

The Bambina woke up with a rash or irritation of some sort on her tummy, and was scratching it like mad. (I did buy her a new set of onesies last week, but I washed them before I put them on her?) So we gave her a bath and then I grabbed a bottle of Calamine at Smith's, to see if it helps. My hubby has sensitive skin, so I'm guessing that's what this is.

At any rate -- it was a good morning!

Sunflower Market Shopping Trip (& Grand Opening!)

I woke up early this morning and headed to the Sunflower Market grand opening of their Salt Lake City store. The hubby graciously agreed to take the morning off and sleep in with The Bambina when I told him there were $50 worth of free groceries involved. Yipee! Sometimes I love that my hubby is as frugal as I am.

I got there about 6:10 and I ran into Tracee (a fellow couponer & friend from high school) and her sisters Shawnee and Jenny. We got our numbers and waited in line together & chatted and laughed until the store opened. Thanks, ladies, for helping pass the time!

The store was bright and beautiful, just like the other Sunflower Market stores I've been to. Their produce prices are amazing and super fresh. I also really enjoy their bulk bins, though I didn't purchase anything from them today. The opening was well-organized and efficient. There were a lot of people there, which tells me the rest of Salt Lake City is as excited about this new store as I am. The more stores, the merrier!

I was number 132. The first 200 people in line each got a ticket, and after you made a purchase you were able to exchange your ticket for a bag full of free groceries & free item coupons. The deals were amazing, so I purchased a few things and got my free swag, shown in the picture below.

$0.88 Strawberries, 1 lb x 3
$1.35 Broccoli ($0.88/lb)
$5.96 Lean Ground Beef (85%) ($1.68/lb)
$0.88 Russet Potatoes, 5 lb
$2.30 Red Seedless Grapes ($0.99/lb)
= $13.13 + tax

Freebies included:
  • 1 Bag of apples
  • 1 Bag of carrots
  • 1 Carton plum tomatoes
  • 1 Orange
  • 1 Loaf of wheat bread
  • 1 Red Mill soup mix
  • 1 Quart chocolate milk
  • 1 Bag tortilla chips
  • 1 Bag white cheddar popcorn
  • 1 Bag organic coffee beans
  • 1 Sweetleaf Stevia sweetener
  • 1 Can energy drink
  • 1 Organic conditioner
  • 2 Packets of seeds
  • 1 Tweezers
  • 1 Package brown rice
  • 15 various samples of granola, chips, cookies, cereal
  • 1 large handful of salt water taffy
  • 1 Sunflower sugar cookie

Can you believe I got all of the food above plus two reusable grocery bags for only $13 dollars and an hour of sleep!? Amazing. But it gets better. Inside each swag bag was a coupon of envelopes, containing $36 worth of free item coupons and $11 worth of money-off coupons. Below are a few of my favorites.

The Muir Glen booklet is fantastic! It has $1 off coupons for 7 different items, which when paired with Sunflower Market's buy 5, save $5 Muir Glen sale makes for super cheap ($0.49) organic soup, canned tomatoes & frozen veggies!

The lines were getting long inside, so we opted not to go back in and use our free item coupons right away. But I do plan to go back this week and at least doing the Muir Glen deal. Overall it was a fantastic morning!

Monday Drugstore & Target Deals

I didn't need much at Rite Aid this morning, but we were out of milk and I had some +UP's that were going to expire, so here's what I did:

I was hoping to buy two individual pieces but they were out, so the starter kit was it. I've been eager to try this system anyway, so I'll be okay even if I don't get the rebate.

I went to Target this morning with the intention of trying on some sandals on the Bambina. (She screamed and refused to walk in every pair. What's the deal? Any suggestions on comfy toddler sandals?) And I figured while I was there I should grab a few good deals. The hubby is a chips & salsa fanatic, and The Bambina loves the yogurt. The Neutrogena mascara (waterproof) is for our upcoming cruise in a few weeks. It was a good day!

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of PBM Products for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

Have you heard of Bright Beginnings? It's a new FDA-approved formula that is nutritionally equivalent to the big name brands, but much cheaper. (And we all know I love cheaper!) They even make gentle, organic and soy options, option, which is nice for those of us who choose to (or have to) go that route.

Bright Beginnings formula is sold on diapers.com, which is awesome because they frequent coupon codes, free shipping on $49+ orders, and 365 day returns. So it makes a reasonably priced formula even better when you buy on diapers.com. I know how hard it can be to keep your budget on track and feel like you're giving your baby the best nutrition he or she needs!
