Walgreens: Converting your RR's

Now that I've got $60's in RR's (register rewards) in my pocket from all the Huggies deals this week, I decided I needed to either buy things I need or convert them into cash!

To convert a register reward to cash:
  • Purchase monthly FAR (free after rebate) items using your register rewards
  • Request your rebate in the form of a check!

Yesterday I bought a bottle of the Memory Formula Vitamins ($19.99) and 3 packs of orbit (3/$99 after ESQ). I paid for these items using two $10 RR's, and voila! I'll be getting a check for $19.99 back at the end of the month!

$19.99 Memory Formula
$0.99 Orbit gum x 3 (after ESQ)
-$10 RR
-$10 RR
=
$0.95 + tax!
(And I'll get a $19.99 easy-saver rebate check!)

You can purchase one bottle of Memory Formula per rebate account.

Total spent for February: $29.91 (I've got $20 in RR's still in my pocket!)
Total saved for February: $260.xx

Ritzy Chicken Recipe

Here's the Ritzy Chicken recipe I'm going to cook this week, using the Ritz crackers I got for free at Walgreens last week! It's actually a kids recipe so even your children will eat it, but it's yummy enough to serve to company.

Ritzy Kids Chicken
8 boneless skinless chicken breasts, thawed
2 cups crushed Ritz crackers
1/4 cup Parmesan cheese
2 tsp garlic salt
1 tsp seasoned salt
1 cup plain yogurt
1/4 cup butter, melted (optional)

Combine crushed crackers, Parmesan, garlic salt and seasoned salt in shallow dish. Pat chicken dry, then coat with yogurt. Dip each piece in crumb mixture and arrange in 9"x 13" baking dish. Drizzle melted butter over top, if desired. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes.

Coupon Redemption

I stumbled across a few blog posts about coupon redemption today. Southern Savers explains every step of the coupon life cycle, from when it shows up in your newspaper, to when your store gets reimbursed for a redemption. If you don't know how this all works or need a refresher, it's a great post to read!

Common Sense with Money explains why manufacturer's put out high-value coupons and how they do make money from it. So when a cashier gives you a hard time for using a coupon and getting an item almost free, don't fret! You're not bankrupting them!

*The one thing I would like to emphasize after reading these two posts is that using expired coupons is not okay. I don't know of a single store in Utah that allows the use of expired manufacturer's coupons. I've also heard some stores bag their coupons up by week and send them to redemption centers. If a coupon is found in that batch that expired previous to the dates on the bag, the stores don't get reimbursed for it. We all need to be careful not to use coupons past their expiration.
