Smith's Coupon Policy

Smith's has come out with an official coupon policy! Print this coupon policy HERE and keep it in your coupon binder.

And don't forget that although the coupon policy does not state this, Smith's has a $3 scan-rite policy. If an item over $3 rings up incorrectly, you get $3 off. If an item under $3 rings up incorrectly, you get it free!

New Rite Aid Coupon Policy

Rite Aid has released a new coupon policy. The changes are sort of a bummer, but what can you do!? Roll with the punches, friends. I recommend printing this policy and keeping it in your coupon binder.


The changes:

• No longer accepting a BOGO manufacturer's coupon paired with a BOGO sale to get 2 items free
• No longer accepting a manufacturer's coupon on the free item in a BOGO sale
• Only 4 alike coupons per transaction allowed

New Walmart Coupon Policy

Walmart has updated their coupon policy. There are some great changes in favor of us shoppers! Here are a few highlights:

• Coupons may exceed the price of the item. Change may be given or applied toward the cost of the basket purchase. (Yipee!)
  
• Walmart will accept competitors coupons that state the specific price of the product. (Dollar off amounts will not be honored.)
• Catalina coupons from other stores that say "Manufacturer Coupon" on them with a valid address, barcode and expiration will be accepted. (Yipee!)

Walgreens Corporate Coupon Policy

Walgreens Corporate finally got serious and laid out an official coupon policy. Wahoo! Check it out HERE.

Highlights:

• Walgreens accepts one store coupon & one manufacturer's coupon per item
• Walgreens will accept multiple identical coupons for multiple identical items purchased (I seriously stopped shopping at my local Walgreens because if this very reason!)
• Walgreens will accept a BOGO MFQ for a BOGO sale!

I'd recommend printing this and keeping it in your coupon binder if you're a Walgreens shopper, so you can help your cashiers out a little. :)

Albertson's Coupon Policy

Print this coupon policy and keep it in your coupon binder!

Thank you for contacting us regarding our coupon policy. We appreciate the opportunity to assist you.

Manufacturer Coupons: Coupons issued by the manufacturer containing: terms of agreement , face value, expiration date, and verbiage manufacturer coupon. They have handling instructions printed on them. Most manufacturer coupons have barcodes on them and can be scanned. Any coupons that do not scan or do not have barcodes should be checked for validity of expiration date and purchase requirements. Albertson's may issue coupons that are manufacturer coupons that contain the words redeemable only at Albertson's.

Internet Coupons: Coupons printed from an internet website presented for redemption with a qualifying purchase.

Albertson's DOES NOT accept internet coupons containing the following conditions:

• Free product offers that do not require a purchase
• Redemption value exceeding $5.00
• Absence of UPC bar code
• Photocopied internet coupons. Most internet sites will print a time and date stamp on the coupons, and limit each ISP address to two coupons total. If multiple coupons have the same time and date stamp this could be an indicator the coupon was photocopied, and should not be accepted.

In order to provide better values for our customers and to continue to deliver the best pricing possible in our weekly ads, we will discontinue the acceptance of competitor s coupons. Albertson's is the last retail grocer in most of our operating areas to discontinue this practice.

Also the acceptance of the coupons at the stores is up to the Store Director's discretion.

Rite Aid Coupon Policy

There have been some reports of people having trouble with printable coupons at Rite Aid lately. This email clarifies Rite Aid's printable coupon policy, as well as their policy with the $5/25 coupon! Print this policy and keep it in your coupon binder.

You can use a manufacturer's coupon with a Rite Aid coupon at anytime as long as the two combine do not exceed the amount of the item you are purchasing. Rite Aid accepts all internet coupons as long as the value of the coupon is below $5.00. Also, you can use more than one coupon per transaction.

Whenever an item is on sale you can use a coupon on the item as long as the value of the coupon does not exceed the value of the item itself. For instance; if you have a coupon for a $1.00 off and the item is on sale for $0.99, the coupon cannot be used as it exceeds the value of the item being purchased. I hope this explains in further detail the coupon policy for you.

When items are featured on a buy one get one free promotion, up to two coupons can be used against the items being purchased, as long a the net price does not go below zero for the item being purchased.

Rite Aid accepts the $5 off $25 or more before all other coupons are used. This was changed recently so if you have difficulty simply have the manager contact 1-800-RITEAID for information.

• Does not "Double" coupons.
• The store manager has the right to accept, decline, or limit the use of ANY coupon upon view.
• The store manager has the right to limit the Quantity of coupons/items used/purchased in a single transaction, by a single customer, or in a single day.
• Limit one (1) manufacturer coupon per item purchased.
• Limit one (1) store coupon per item purchased.
• Limit one (1) manufacturer and one (1) store coupon can be used on the same item.
• Coupons cannot be used on "Free" items.
• Does Not accept coupons that are expired.
• Amount refunded cannot exceed the cost of the item.
• Customer is responsible for tax on all items even "Free" items.

Smith's also has a $3 scan-rite policy. If an item over $3 rings up incorrectly, you get $3 off. If an item under $3 rings up incorrectly, you get it free!

Walmart Coupon Policy

Print the Wal-Mart coupon policy HERE and keep it in your coupon binder.

Wal-Mart accepts the following types of coupons (see guidelines below):

• Manufacturer coupons (Cents Off)
• Free merchandise (or manufacturer's Buy-One-Get-One-Free) coupons
• Store coupons
• Pharmacy (Advertising and Promotional) coupons
• Internet coupons
• Soft drink container caps

The following are guidelines and limits:

• Wal-Mart only accepts coupons for merchandise we sell and only when presented at the time of purchase.
• Coupons should have an expiration date and be presented within the valid dates.
• Wal-Mart will not accept expired coupons.
• Internet coupons should be legible and say "Manufacturer Coupon."
• There should be a valid remit address for the manufacturer and a scannable bar code.
• Only one coupon per item is permitted.
• Use of 40 or more coupons per transaction will require approval by Customer Service Manager.

Target Corporate Coupon Policy

Target has released a new version of the corporate coupon policy on the web. Find it HERE. I suggest printing a copy to keep in your coupon binder in case any questions arise at the store!

• Target accepts one manufacturer's coupon (MFQ) and one Target coupon (TQ) per item.
• SuperTarget coupons can be used in any Target store (if they carry the item).
• Target accepts all internet printable coupons (IPQ).
• Coupon amount may be reduced if it exceeds the value of the item. (IE, using a $1 coupon on a $0.99 item.)

Store Coupon Policies

Have you ever run into an uninformed (or cranky) cashier when you're using coupons? I had the pleasure this past Saturday at Target. Luckily I had my store coupon policy printed out and tucked inside my coupon binder to show the cashier.

If you've ever had any trouble, I recommend doing the same. Print the coupon policies for the stores you frequent, and keep a copy tucked inside your coupon binder. That way you've always got it with you, in case the need arises.

I also recommend knowing these policies. Don't let a cashier push you around or make you feel guilty for using coupons! You are doing nothing wrong! Politely show them your coupon policy or ask for a manager, if necessary, but never escalate an issue just to prove you are right. You can always return/rebuy or come back another day!


Here's a little bit of detail on each of the coupon policies in my neck of the woods, along with links to printable, official copies for those available.

• Target - accepts one MFQ and one TQ per item. Accepts IPQ's.
• Walgreens - accepts one MFQ and one store coupon per item. Accepts IPQ's.
• Rite Aid - accepts one MFQ and one store coupon per item. Accepts IPQ's up to $5.
• Walmart - accepts one MFQ per item. Accepts IPQ's.
• Smith's - accepts one MFQ per item. Accepts IPQ's. Has a $3 scan law in Utah. (If it scans incorrectly and it's over $3, you get a $3 discount. If it's under $3, you get it free.)
• Albertsons - accepts one MFQ and one store coupon per item. Accepts IPQ's. Also has a $3 scan law in Utah.
