My Budget: June

Total spent in June on groceries & household supplies: $206.81
Total saved in June on groceries & household supplies: $89.26 (30.15%)

I was pretty close to being on budget for June, but as you can see from the savings total, I sort of fell off the coupon savings bandwagon. But I'm ready to get back on! June was a rough month for me, what with being sick, so there wasn't any stocking up of any sort. Hopefully July will be a little better!

Total spent in June eating out: $94.86

Eating out this month was WAAAAYY overboard, but that's what happens when the mama gets sick and the dad is left in charge I guess? Sigh. At least we didn't all starve!

How are you all doing with your budgets?

Smith's Shopping Trip -- 58% Savings!

I ran to Smith's this morning to take part in the fantastic Kellogg's sale before it ended this week. I also had a hankering for pot roast, for some reason. So I bought a roast and some veggies and threw it in the crockpot. Smells delicious!

$1.67 Kellogg's Cereal x 10
$1.99 Kraft Cheese Shreds
$8.76 Chuck Roast
$0.51 Yellow Onion
$1.59 Potatoes
-$5/5 Kellogg's MFQ x 2
= $19.52 + tax

(Saved $27.61 -- 58%.)

My store had the Raisin Bran marked for the promo but it rang up full price. They double checked the shelves and gave it to me for the sale price because of their mistake. (Anyone else had trouble at their stores?)

I had saved the Shortcuts $5/5 MFQ onto my store card but it never came off at checkout! Very frustrating. So I ended up having to use two paper coupons to cover my 10 boxes. I'm going to contact Shortcuts today and let them know.

Anyone else loving this cereal sale?

Monday Drugstore Deals

I ran to Rite Aid this morning because I had a $10 +UP Reward from last week that I needed to use up. The Compound W was a perfect way to roll the +UP into SCR (cash)!

$2.69 Crest Pro-Health
$10.99 Compound W
$2.79 Dum Dums
-$3/15 RAQ
-$0.75 MFQ Crest (P&G 7/3)
-$2 Compound W MFQ HERE
-$10 +UP (previous)
= $0.72 + tax

(And I'll get back $12.69 SCR.)

My store had the sensitive enamel shield toothpaste tagged for the rebate (as opposed to the regular enamel shield, which was nowhere to be found), so hopefully it goes through. I grabbed the bag of dum dums because The Bambina and I are going on a road trip this week, so I'm hoping these'll keep her occupied in the car. We'll see!

Blurb $75 Gift Card Review & Giveaway!

I have an exciting giveaway for you today. A few weeks ago, I was contacted by Blurb and asked to try out their photobook software and host a giveaway for one lucky reader!

I chose to create an 80-page 8x10 photobook of The Bambina's first six months of life. I hadn't ever gotten around to starting her scrapbook, so this gave me the push I needed to jump in there and get it done. (And it feels so good to be on my way!)

Blurb has two methods of creating a photobook for basic users. One is a software that you download onto your computer, called Blurb BookSmart, and the other is an online tool called Bookify Online. While the BookSmart software is fully customizable, I chose to use the online tool in order to streamline the process.

I was able to create an 80-page scrapbook for The Bambina is about 4 days, working only during her naptimes. I was amazed! If I had tried to actually scrapbook her pictures in a binder, it would have taken me months to complete. (Hence, why I hadn't started yet...)

I chose a hardcover imagewrap cover, which turned out beautiful and very professional looking. I loved all of the font choices for the text.

The online tool has a wide variety of styles and layouts to choose from, and it's very simple and user friendly. There were one or two times when I wished I had a layout that wasn't available, but I was able to make everything work and ended up very happy with the result.

If you haven't tried Blurb yet - I highly recommend giving it a go! I think you'll love it as much as I did.
