The creator of Utah-based Essential Swimwear, Brittney, says she became thoroughly discouraged every season as she searched for the perfect swimsuit, and decided that it didn't exist. She was frustrated with expensive prices, wrong fits and the hassle of searching online for hours. Having some sewing experience, the thought came to mind, "Why don't I make my own swimsuit?"

The task didn't turn out to be as easy as she thought when finding cute fabric and perfect fits seemed impossible. But after a few months of searching and a lot of trial and error, she came up with several different patterns that were flattering, comfortable and stylish.

"I was really excited to wear my swimsuits and found that people were constantly asking where I got them. I wanted to share the swimsuits with people who had gone through the same discouragements as me. Thus essential swimwear was born."

Brittney started selling womens swimsuits in 2008 and received a very positive response. For the 2009 season, she has expanded the line to include baby and girl swimsuits.

Essential Swimwear specializes in modest, flattering, comfortable, affordable and stylish swimwear. This season features six different womens tankini tops, four swimsuit bottoms, a swim skirt and a maternity top. The 2010 line will be expanding to include even more designs and products!

Did I mention that Brittney does custom swimwear fittings? A few weeks ago after outgrowing my regular swimsuit, I called Brittney. She did a custom fitting for me, and even adjusted the bust dimensions in a few places to fit my ever-expanding pregnant self...and voila! I now have a gorgeous, comfortable, and perfectly-fitting maternity swimsuit!
